What is the Gluten Free Diet?
For as misunderstood as the gluten free diet is, it is really not that complicated in theory. Someone on a gluten free diet avoids all traces of gluten, storage proteins: gliadin and prolamine. In a further section, we will discuss all of the ingredients to avoid on a gluten free diet; however, here are the main grains that should not be eaten:
- Wheat (durum, semolina, kamut, spelt)
- Rye
- Barley
- Triticale
- Oats (unless certified gluten free)
Many individuals can benefit from a gluten free diet, everyone from individuals with Celiac Disease to dermatitis herpetiformis to ADHD and Autism to simply people who want to feel more energized. Often individuals who must be on a gluten free diet because of medical reasons, like Celiac Disease, also experience other sensitivities to other food allergens like casein, milk, lactose and eggs.
What is the Gluten Free Meal Plan?
Gluten Free Meal Plan provides simple meal plans that outline every meal of the week. I provide shopping lists to help you make sure you have all the food you need when you go to make it. Also there are lots of cooking tips and tricks to eating gluten free, shopping, and just managing your gluten free lifestyle. I make it easy to eat gluten free, when you subscribe to my meal plan service.
Will I lose weight on the Gluten Free Meal Plan?
The short answer to this question is yes, probably. That is, if you need to lose weight. The Gluten Free Meal Plan is designed for 1,200 – 1,500 calories per day, and the gluten free diet tends to help people get to their optimal weight, so if you need to lose fat, you’ll lose fat, and if you need to gain muscle, you’ll gain muscle (or both).
How do you know so much about the gluten free diet?
I started learning about the gluten free diet in 2006 when I was doing publicity for a Celiac cookbook. The next year my mom was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. It’s kind of unbelievable how fate puts you exactly where you need to be to help the people closest to you, right? In 2009, I was personally diagnosed with Celiac Disease and began my gluten free journey. I share my personal stories on GlutenFreeJenna.com and work with clients to re-discover themselves again after going gluten free on GlutenFreeLifestyleCoach.com. You can also find out more about me on here!
When will I receive my first meal plan and grocery list?
Like magic, your first meal plan will be available immediately inside the members only page – My Dashboard (top right tab). This is where the meal plans and grocery lists for the past 2 weeks live. Every Tuesday I’ll send you a quick email that sends the latest meal plans and grocery lists right to your inbox.
What do the week numbers mean? I just started, shouldn’t it be week #1?
Every week throughout the year is numbered, starting with the first week in January. We use this method versus the dates because it’s easier to sort and manage the content internally. It’s also a universal system:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_week_date. So, don’t expect to see Week #1 unless it’s the beginning of January.
Can I access meal plans and grocery lists from previous weeks?
I only keep two weeks’ worth of downloads on the site at a time, so the dashboard doesn’t start collected dust, and you can find exactly what you need quickly.
I really don’t like Guacamole (or something else and that’s on the menu this week), can I change it?
You might not like shrimp or can’t stand the texture of guacamole while I think that’s crazytown, I get it. If you don’t like something on the meal plan, then switch it out with one of the other recipes in the collection. There’s literally hundreds of gluten free recipes in my archives. If you still can’t find something, email me what kinds of foods you like, and I’ll personally make a recommendation.
There are thousands of recipes online, why should I pay for them?
You’re right. Google ‘gluten free recipes’ and you’ll find over 52 million results. Don’t believe me? Check this out:
If you want to weed through 52 million recipes each week to figure out what you want to cook – go for it! There are so many people that plan on making their own meal plans, but then work and life get in the way, and they end up back where they started – frustrated with the gluten free diet. I provide the weekly gluten free meal plans, recipes and shopping lists all in one place to save you time and make going gluten free easier.
OK, that sounds reasonable. But can I just share this with my friends so we don’t all have to pay?
There is no way I can prevent stop you from doing that, and I have no intention of trying. That would be just too much energy. However, the Gluten Free Meal Plan is a great resource saves members between 2-7 hours a month. My think current prices are more than fair and encourage all households to have their own membership. With that said, I have no problem with households sharing amongst themselves. Duh, that just makes sense.
Are there any special tools that I need to prepare the meals each week?
I try to make sure that every meal can be made by everyone – no matter what the skill level or tools require. But, there are some recipes that require additional tools like this delicious quinoa salad that suggests using a mandoline. Generally, all you will need is basic kitchen tools plus to-go containers to pack all the yummy lunches you’ll be making.
How long will I be cooking everyday? I don’t want to be a slave to the stove.
You’re busy – I get it! After working 8 – 10+ hours at day, you don’t want to come home and spend the rest of your night in the kitchen. That’s especially why I never give you a meal that takes more than 30 minutes to cook during the weekdays (marinade time not included). Plus, I even plan out the best use of ingredients each week for leftovers, so you can make the most of your time spent in the kitchen.
I work all day long and can’t go home to cook lunch. How do your lunch recipes work?
I pre-plan all of the lunches for you. Most are even based on leftovers from the delicious dinners. But who wants to eat leftovers every day of the week? So I spice things up with easy to prepare lunches that can be made the night before while you’re making dinner. If you boycott the brown bag, I can’t stop you, but I can suggest getting a super cute lunch bag.
I have Celiac Disease and the gluten free diet is no joke. Is everything really 100% gluten free?
Your wellness is important to me. I’m also a Celiac and understand how careful you must be to avoid gluten plus the dangerous (and painful) side effects of ingesting gluten. All meals on GlutenFreeMealPlan.org are 100% gluten free. *If there is any possibility of you buying something that contains gluten, then I call it out for you in the notes on each shopping list.
I’m not sure if I have Celiac Disease or if I need to be gluten free. Should I try the meal plan?
If you’re just trying out the gluten free diet, then yes my meal plans can help you get started with the gluten free diet today! However, my getting started guide to going gluten free might be a better option for you other than a subscription like the meal plan. Plus 6 weeks of meal plans, recipes and shopping lists are included with the purchase.
I’m also allergic to dairy, peanuts, soy, shellfish, etc. Will the plan work for me?
There are lots of recipes here that are also dairy free, nut free, and free of the other top allergens, but my meal plans are only guaranteed to be gluten free. Often you can easily substitute with other ingredients, but if you don’t want to be bothered with that, then the meal plan might not be the right choice for you.
We have a big family. How many people is the plan designed for?
The Meal Plan is custom designed for two people following the gluten free diet together. The shopping list and the recipes themselves provide guidance for what two average people eat. You can easily adjust the quantities for your specific needs.
My husband doesn’t eat gluten free, do we have do do the meal plan together?
Absolutely not! While I’m a HUGE advocate for a totally gluten free household – especially if you have Celiac Disease – I understand it’s not a reality for everyone. However, the recipes included in your meal plan each week are so delicious that he won’t even notice they are gluten free!
I hate to cook and would rather order takeout for every meal. Will the plan work for me?
Let’s face it. It takes a whole heck of a lot more time to cook and do dishes after you eat than it does to just order take out. But, there’s something to be said for eating a home cooked meal and knowing exactly what ingredients were used to make it. If you’re not willing to invest at least 30 minutes a day in the kitchen, then this program might not be for you.
I see you’re a personal chef. I’m not a very good cook. Does that matter?
Have you ever seen that Disney movie, Ratatouille? You know the one with the French mouse that can cook in a 5-star restaurant. Much like Chef Gusto, I believe anyone can cook.
My co-workers want to try going gluten free together. Can we share the plan?
While I can’t stop you from sharing the PDFs, each meal plan is designed for household use only. Plus, wouldn’t it be more fun to compete with each other in a 21 day gluten free challenge? Check this out…
